MATCH REPORT

1-1 draw at the home of Ajka

The home team quickly took the lead at the start of the match, but we equalized in the second half with a goal from Simut.

Following Monday's season opener against Honvéd, Vidi made the visit to FC Ajka, who, like us, had failed to pick up any points in the first round of the Merkantil Bank Liga NB II. Head coach Gábor Boér sent out the following starting eleven: Nagy - Kovács K., Murka, Spandler, Horváth - Kocsis G., Bedi, Simut, Kocsis B. - Bobál, Kovács P for this Sunday evening fixture. Milán Papp and Dániel Tiefenbach were unable to play due to thigh injuries, Botond Kemenes due to a knee sprain, and Zsombor Kálnoki-Kis due to suspension. An impressive away following of 250 made the trip and filled the corner of the stadium.

The match did not start well for us. In the second minute, Doncsecz threatened from 23 meters, while in the fourth minute the home side took the lead as Cipf headed Doncsecz's cross into the left side of our goal from eight meters (1-0). In the eighth minute, Horváth had Vidi's first chance, but the goalkeeper saved his close-range shot. The home side attacked more dangerously in the first twenty minutes, in the 27th minute, we missed a good chance: Patrik Kovács broke through, but Szabados made a smart save to deny him. In the 34th minute, Krisztián Kovács was injured after a bad move and unfortunately had to be substituted, with Kojnok taking his place. Bence Kocsis' long-range shot was the last attempt of the first half, and the teams went into the break with Ajka leading by one goal.

During the break, Gábor Boér made two substitutions, replacing Bence Bedi and Gergely Bobál with Roland Varga and Tamás Tóth Vid. Kojnok's pass created the first dangerous situation after the break, then in the 50th minute, Vidi keeper Gergely Nagy had to make a good save from Garai's 18-meter shot. In the 57th minute, after a pass from Kojnok on the right, the ball landed in front of Simut, who did well to send a good shot under the crossbar, scoring our equalizer (1-1). In the 62nd minute, our goal scorer tried again, this time with a 16-meter shot that was saved by Szabados. In the 63rd minute, the home team also decided to make a double substitution, and five minutes later, Herjeczki shot from 8 meters, but the ball went over the top left corner. Bence Kovács replaced Bence Kocsis, and Herjeczki threatened again, but his shot went over the bar.

Vidi had the upper hand, with numerous shots on goal in the last ten minutes, but the home defenders held their ground. In the second minute of the three-minute extra time, we had a good chance to win it: Tamás Tóth Vid headed a forward pass in front of the goal, and Patrik Kovács made a good move to get the ball, but unfortunately, the attempt ultimately missed the Ajka goal. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, and our next game will be at home against Csákvár.
