We have extended the contract of our 20-year-old homegrown midfielder.
Our club has extended the contract of Máté Kecskés, with the young midfielder continuing to play for Videoton FC Fehérvár next season.
Born in 2006, Máté Kecskés joined Vidi’s youth academy in 2012. After playing for our age-group teams and Vidi II, he made his debut in our match squad in an NB I league game during the 2024/2025 season and started in a cup match. In the spring of 2025, he played on loan at Dorog, and during the 2025–2026 season, he started twice and came off the bench seven times in NB II, and made one substitute appearance in the MOL Hungarian Cup.

“As a player who came up through Videoton’s youth system, it was clear to me that this is where I see my future, and sporting director Nemanja Nikolics outlined a vision that appealed to me as well. I can definitely sense that the club’s management is counting on the young players from Fehérvár, which gives me extra motivation. The season behind us was instructive; I basically got fewer opportunities, but that’s also part of the development process. It’s definitely a positive that I was able to play my first full season as a member of Vidi’s first team. Next season, I want to fight for as many playing opportunities as possible and help the team compete for a spot at the top of the table,” Máté Kecskés told our website.
“Máté Kecskés is a product of our youth academy, and although he received fewer opportunities on the pitch last season, he demonstrated an attitude that can serve as an example for all young players. We count on our young players, but only those who dedicate everything—both on and off the field—to becoming professional football players and possess very strong internal motivation. Videoton means a lot to Máté, and he has great potential for growth; I’m confident that with hard work and the help of the coaching staff, he’ll be able to bring that out in himself. Born in 2006, he will still meet the youth eligibility requirements for NB II next season, which could also help him get more opportunities and prove himself on the pitch,” said sports director Nikolics Nemanja.
