CONTRACT EXTENSION

We have extended head coach Tamás Pető's contract!

We have signed a contract extension with our head coach taking him through to the summer of 2028.

Our club has extended the contract of head coach Tamás Pető, who has signed a new deal with Videoton FC Fehérvár through to the 30th June 2028!

The 51-year-old manager, who previously achieved big success at Videoton as a player, scout, and head coach, returned to the head coaching position of our team in November 2025. He took over the team in 12th place and, after moving up six spots in eight rounds, we are currently in 6th place. While we earned 13 points in 13 league matches earlier in the season, we have collected 19 points in the 8 league matches played since then. When Pető took over the team, we had scored 13 goals and conceded 16 in the Merkantil Bank League; since then, we’ve scored 16 goals and conceded just eight in eight matches. This spring, we produced a winning streak not seen in nearly seven years, collecting three points in five consecutive league matches; our team is currently unbeaten in seven NB II matches. Beyond the statistics, our fans have also witnessed a big improvement in our team’s play under the leadership of Tamás Pető.

"We reached an agreement with Tamás Pető very easily regarding our future plans; it was clear to both sides that we wanted to continue the work we had started together. Believing in the process and the work we’ve begun is essential for stability, and this requires a head coach whom we trust and support wholeheartedly. Tomi took over the team during a difficult period; since then, we have made significant progress in the league table, but of course, this is not the end of the road—we are constantly working together to move even further forward. Under his leadership, the players have improved significantly both physically and mentally; the latter is evidenced by the fact that we’ve managed to win several league matches where we didn’t take the lead. Tomi is also a full partner in integrating young players; those young players who deliver quality performances in training and matches always earn his trust. "We thank the owner, the local government, and the managing director for supporting our decision; by continuing the work we’ve started, we aim to keep moving forward and achieving results," said sports director Nemanja Nikolics in a statement to our website.

"I’m glad that, based on the work of the past few months, the club’s leadership has placed their trust in me for the long term. We took over the team in a difficult situation with sports director Nemanja Nikolics, but even this short time was enough to prove that we can make progress. I thank the management for their trust; we will work to be as successful as possible in the future. I believe we’re on the right path; we’ve already taken a few steps forward, but we need to keep moving forward, and our clear goal is to lay the foundation for a team next season that can aim to finish at the top of the league," said head coach Tamás Pető after signing his contract extension.
