The press conference highlighted that the project will begin in September 2015 and last until the end of 2016. Videoton FC will remain at the Sostoi stadium for the current season, before moving to the Pancho arena in the autumn.
The plans for the new Sostoi stadium was shown at the Wednesday morning press conference. Laszlo Vigh, the Investment Minister, Andras Cser-Palkovics, the Mayor of Szekesfehervar and Attila Balogh, Managing Director of Videoton FC were present to introduce the new stadium plans.
Laszlo Vigh said that the decision taken by the Government last year to reconstruct the Sostoi stadium, will see a UEFA category 4, completely covered, multi-function facility being built in the city. "The pre-planned amount for the project will remain unchanged. The work will begin in September 2015 and completed towards the end of 2016" - commented the Minister.
Andras Cser-Palkovics thanked the state for the financial support for the new stadium, with the new facilities increasing the cities assets, while serving the Videoton supporters, which will mean that it will not cost Szekesfehervar money. This is not only about a stadium development being achieved, but a rehabilitation of part of the city, with the creation of a real public place. The stadium is right next to the nature reserve, while the Sostoi conservation area also being renewed, dredging, water replacement all helping to make the stadium a green environment. The original January demolition would not have been a legal and technical barrier. It was the request of the city that in the event of it not effecting the start and finishing time, the Sostoi rehabilitation should take place at the same time as the city development. This is why we will start in September."
Attila Balogh emphasised the importance from the viewpoint of the club that the plans could be finalized. "We have placed great emphasis on the supporters experience, with the stadium plans bearing the fruits of the excellent working relationship. We were expecting to begin demolishing in February, but the work now going ahead in Autumn, we will play out the spring season at the stadium. The European matches, depending on which competition we will begin at the end of the league season will be played at the Pancho Arena. If for some reason those facilities are not adequate, then naturally a second venue will be announced, but I cannot say anything concrete at the moment" - concluded the Managing Director.
