Our new signing has made 23 appearances for the Hungarian national team.
23-time Hungarian national team right-back Barnabás Bese will continue his career in MOL Fehérvár FC!
The 27-year-old, 188 cm tall footballer was born on the 6th May 1994 in Budapest. He was brought up in the youth teams of Csepel, Ferencváros and MTK Budapest, and in 2012, he played his first adult NB II championship match for the Blue and Whites of Budapest, who won the league in the Western Group of the second division that season, and made his debut in the top flight in the same calendar year. He also played regularly as a right winger at the beginning of his career.
Bese, who played for all age-group national teams from U17 to U21, quickly became a key member of his team, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists in 94 NB I championship games for MTK between 2012 and 2016. He made his debut for the senior national team on the 4th June 2016 in a pre-season match in Germany and was also part of Bernd Storck's 2016 European Championship squad, starting the group match against Portugal, which ended 3-3.
After the European Championships, he was signed by French second division side Le Havre, where he played in 117 league games until 2020, scoring 5 goals and 6 assists. In the 2017/2018 season, they came close to reaching the top division, but were beaten in the play-offs by Ajaccio.
In August 2020, he joined Belgian first division side Oud-Heverlee Leuven, where he played 17 league games until the end of 2021. After Storck, Zoltán Szélesi, Georges Leekens and Marco Rossi were also counted on him to play for the national team. So far, he has worn the jersey 23 times, scoring against Greece and Russia.
"Barnabás Bese is one of the best Hungarian attacking wing-backs, whose heading ability can be very useful for us both in defence and for attacking set pieces" - said István Sallói, the club's sporting director.
"It's no secret that the possibility of a transfer to Vidi has come up several times, and I'm glad that it has now happened. I've worked with Michael Boris and I know a number of players from the national team, so I'm confident that the adjustment will be easy. I like to play in an attacking spirit and help the attack from the back, and my strengths are my heading game and body-on-body situations. I am aware of Vidi's targets and I would like to help the team achieve them, as well as to give a performance that will help me get an invitation to the national team" - said Barnabás Bese after signing the contract.
