Iceland's Vilhjalmur Thorarinsson will referee our home EKL match against Petrocub Hincesti

Earlier, Fiola and Nego both had the Icelandic referee officiate in Hungary's World Cup qualifier.

Iceland's Vilhjalmur Thorarinsson will be in charge of our team's home match against FC Petrocub Hincesti of Moldova in the third round of the UEFA conference league qualifying competition.

Born on 13th March 1985, he has been officiating top-flight matches since 2009 and international matches since 2015, blowing the whistle in the Europa League, the European Conference League, the UEFA Youth League and national team matches. This will be his second competitive match of the 2022/2023 season, having refereed Derry City-Riga in the first qualifying round of the ECL.

He has also refereed the Hungarian national team in 2021, in the World Cup qualifier in Andorra, where our national team won 4-1, and two of our players, Attila Fiola and Loic Nego scored goals, but he also blew the whistle for our U21 national team.

His assistants will be Iceland's Gylfi Mar Sigurdsson and Birkir Sigurdarson, while Helgi Mikael Jónasson will be the fourth official for Thursday night's match.
