The forward joins us from Inter Miami!
Inter Miami and our club have agreed on Nicolas Stefanelli continuing his career at Vidi!
Born in Quilmes on the 22nd November 1994, the goal-scoring Argentine striker started his career with Defensa y Justicia. As a youngster, he spent almost a year and a half on loan at Villa Dálmine, before making his debut in the top division of his country for his boyhood club. After 40 games and 13 goals, he moved abroad and was signed by Swedish club AIK in 2017, where he worked with our head coach Bartosz Grzelak, who was assistant coach of the 2018 champions during this period, before becoming the new head coach from 2020 to 2022.
Stefanelli has scored 40 goals in 114 games for AIK, playing in Cyprus and Chile between 2018 and 2020, scoring twice in 12 games for Anorthosis and 11 times in 48 games for Unión La Calera. His last club before Vidi was CF Inter Miami of Florida, where he scored four goals in 30 games, and was partnered by Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez during his pre-season.
"There was talk of me joining Vidi in the summer, but it wasn't an option at the time. Now everything has come together and my family and I have decided that it is best for me to continue my career in Hungary. Bartosz Grzelak and I worked together a lot in Sweden at AIK, we have stayed in touch ever since, so I was already aware of Vidi's performance last year, I know that the second half of the autumn season went well, I came here to help the team to win as many games as possible. As I am 167 cm tall, I don't consider myself a classicforward or a "target man", I prefer to play as a striker who tries to create as many chances as possible inside the penalty area and of course, in good situations, I also create them. But I'm also not averse to changing position during a game and playing a bit back or on the wing. I started training with the team in Miami three weeks ago, I've already played in a training match, so I feel in good shape and I'm looking forward to playing in a Vidi shirt as soon as possible," said the new signing after signing his contract.
