Tamas Szalai will become the manager of Vidi's second team

He had been in temporary charge of the first team after Gabor Marton left the club.

From the 1st April, Tamas Szalai will manage MOL Fehervar FC second team, which plays in the NB III. The 41-year-old coach helped Vidi’s first team as a player between 1998 and 2005, and then returned to our club in the summer of 2017, where he was expected to be the Vidi II player coach. He had already started his preparations for January 2018 with the staff of Marko Nikolic as an assistant coach, so he was also part of the championship title, cup victory and the successful European performance.

In the last month and a half, as the temporary manager of the first team, he led the team in seven competitive matches and a friendly game, during which we won five and reached the semi-finals of the MOL Hungarian Cup.

"Tamás Szalai temporarily took over the first team when we were going through a tough period in February. Thank you very much for your work and for saying yes at the first request, without thinking. He solved his task perfectly, immediately giving the team support and organization, and in one of the most important matches, in the cup game against FTC, he achieved a great result with the team as we advanced, and then he successfully handled the next obstacle. Thanks to that, we still have the hope of winning something this season if it isn't going to be in the league. I have to highlight the work of Gábor Késedi, who was a huge help to Tamás Szalai, two of them did the work of five people to hand over the team to the new staff in the best possible condition, and we can benefit from this in the coming weeks. Tamás Szalai has not worked as a head coach yet, it is a fitting task to start at Vidi II. I am sure that he will solve the task entrusted to him with our second team " - commented Zoltan Kovacs, director of football.

“It was an eventful month and a half, I suddenly had to take control of the first team and the matches kept coming, but I feel like we managed to shake up the team in about a week and a half, which we can now hand over to the new staff in good condition. I really enjoyed working together with both the players and the coaching staff and everyone worked with great dedication. I am especially pleased that the team is in the semi-finals of the MOL Hungarian Cup. I would love us to be cup winners at the end of the season! I am facing my first head coach assignment, I already thinking about the Thursday morning training session for Vidi II. I am already looking forward to working with the younger players. As before with NB I, the tournament calendar is very dense, with eight games being played in April. Of course, in the recent period I have already followed the matches and training of the NB III, U19 and U17 teams, based on these I can dare to announce that there are talents who, if their development remains unbroken, will soon be in the first team. They will be able to knock on the door of the dressing room ” - commented Tamas Szalai.

As is known, from the 1st April, Imre Szabics will take charge of MOL Fehervar FC, whose work will be assisted by Roland Juhasz and Sandor Torghelle.
